ROLE SUMMARY

The External Engagement Innovations Lead will be responsible for:
  • Identify, develop & lead external scientific networks & partnerships with key opinion leaders from academic institutions & hospitals
  • Leading development and implementation of patient partnered research and publication strategies
  • Partnering with the Head of External Medical Engagement to support Pfizer engagement with priority external stakeholder organizations.
    • Support asset teams, regional and Global Medical Affairs, Corporate Affairs, Patient & Health Impact, and other Pfizer Hospital Business Unit stakeholders, in engaging with the external medical and policy communities and priority external stakeholder organizations
    • Provide Global Medical leadership to advance implementation of anti-fungal policy strategy
  • Develop resources to support medical colleagues to serve as a face of the business to external organizations, institutions, and KOLs through a coordinated advocacy strategy aligned to Pfizer policy positions and strategic business objectives
  • Manage SPIDAAR Africa partnership and implementation of real-world evidence pillar
  • Support ATLAS and SPIDAAR surveillance platforms in partnership with Senior External Medical Engagement Specialist: Microbiology Coordinator.


The External Engagement Innovation Lead will work closely with the External Medical Engagement Team, members of the Hospital Medical Group, and cross-functional colleagues from the Hospital Business Unit to ensure functional excellence. The role will report to the Hospital Business Unit External Medical Engagement Lead.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Scientific and Medical Leadership
  • Engages externally to strengthen Pfizer/Hospital BU's relationships with the external professional community, including international/regional organizations, key academic institutions & hospitals, patient advocacy groups, leading global/regional KOLs, government officials, Advisory/Guidance committees, professional societies, and public health bodies.
    • Identify & build on common interests for Pfizer & the professional community stakeholders e.g. advancing science & shaping medical practice
    • Establish/build Pfizer's Medical leadership/voice & advocacy for Hospital Business Unit programs, products, policy positions & business objectives.
    • Communicate scientific information through scientific exchanges (publications, education events, professional meetings, Advisory Boards, lectures/symposia & other appropriate interactions) & other non-promotional communications to drive optimal patient outcomes.
    • Gain feedback & customer insights to inform medical & Hospital BU strategies enhance our corporate professional image
  • Represent Hospital Business Unit with the external policy and research communities, provide leadership on behalf of the business unit, positioning Pfizer at the forefront of public-private dialogue & partnerships
    • Provide medical leadership & support to internal stakeholders, including Commercial, Corporate Affairs, Regulatory, Legal and others, on external professional community engagement.
    • Collaborate with internal & external stakeholders to develop & implement high impact programs e.g. non-interventional studies, support for IIRs, etc.
    • Lead team to identify & articulate medical/scientific value of the partnerships/initiatives for Hospital BU, to guide internal and external decision-making.
  • Provides leadership to support development of product-specific patient engagement strategy.
  • Partner with Corporate Affairs, Global Medical Affairs, and Patient & Health Impact in the development and implementation of Pfizer's anti-fungal policy platform
    • Serve as a leader in engagements with external community
    • Support the capability development of internal colleagues
    • Developing and implementing a strategy to support an engaged external medical community to ensure Pfizer Hospital is seen as the leading invasive fungal infections solutions partner, in the process strengthening our reputation and value of our antimicrobial portfolio
  • Responsible for execution of Surveillance Partnership to Improve Data for Action on Antimicrobial Resistance (SPIDAAR) real world evidence activity.
    • Support ATLAS and SPIDAAR surveillance platforms in partnership with Senior External Medical Engagement Specialist: Microbiology Coordinator.

Training & Education Required:
  • PharmD or PhD required
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of microbiological drug development and post marketing program development success.


Prior Experience:
  • Research antimicrobial experience
  • 10 or more years of pharmaceutical or similar experience
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to manage resources, programs and projects
  • Ability to work independently with key microbiological thought leaders globally.
  • Experience in interacting with 3rd parties including Thought Leaders, Academia or Hospital preferred
