You will be able to strategically engage in a credible and ethical manner and will be responsible for leading the process of developing and executing the business strategies and medical plans (including launch readiness) and project resource planning, facilitate tracking and communication of medical affairs resources and performance, and provide deliverables to key senior stakeholders. You will also be responsible for effectively partnering with the USMALs, Medical/Scientific Directors and Medical Matrix Teams to plan/optimize and pull through plans. In addition, the Strategy and Operations Director will facilitate alignment across multiple functions and key stakeholders (e.g. business unit, R&D, franchise) and serve as a conduit between Leadership and the matrix teams to enhance goal clarity, communication, and team engagement and effectiveness. This role will provide YOU the opportunity to drive key activities and responsibilities as follows: Partner with USMALs to drive optimal medicine strategy planning and delivery of the medical plan team's operating model within the medical teams, with a focus on alignment with TA/disease strategy, resolving complex challenges, incorporating team building and training, and identifying process improvement opportunities. Partner with USMALs to develop and/or project manage the development of scientific communications in support of vaccine assets, including the creation of materials supportive of advisory boards, medical booths, externally facing meetings, non-IME educational symposia, slide decks and other engagement deliverables. Drive effective processes and standards on all aspects of the US Medical Affairs Strategic Planning process, in alignment where needed with global and commercial, that effectively leverages the unmet medical need framework, mVOC, and other external/internal intelligence. Instil strong discipline and effective project management discipline in driving aligned, timely, and high-quality delivery of medical plans. Provide day-to-day operations support for medical matrix teams, including team communications, agenda management, meeting facilitation, team documentation, and appropriate compliance. Provide operational support for advisory boards and consultancies including vendor contracting and management and the development and implementation of third-party oversight plans. Facilitate effective partnership, interaction and timely communication across business units and functional lines including Global Vaccines Medical and Commercial brand teams to ensure deliverables are aligned and optimized and requests from partners are appropriately directed and resolved by Medical. Assist USMAL and individual leaders in developing effective presentations and other communications to senior leadership including the preparation of business-unit level reviews and ongoing management reporting needs for both the portfolio and individual vaccines. Lead the US review of Investigator-Sponsored Studies (ISS) for vaccines with relevant stakeholders for alignment to areas of strategic of interest for global support. Lead or provide project management support for ad-hoc strategic or operational projects Adopt/foster consistent ways of working (tools, processes, best practices, etc.) across medical teams in various LOCs and global project management team. Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry or related fields. Demonstrated high level of strategic, business operations and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple large projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks and business needs, meet strict and sometimes conflicting deadlines, accurately update multiple trackers, and keep stakeholders informed of project status and any risks or issues impacting timelines or deliverables. Excellent organizational, planning and business acumen skills and ability to operate effectively in a multicultural, matrix organization where the workload requires balancing multiple responsibilities and workstreams simultaneously and working across boundaries and geographies effectively. Solid problem-solving and analytical skills with willingness and ability to detect process gaps, challenge assumptions, and drive change and improvement. Capable of navigating complex internal processes. Ability to work in a team environment under high pressure situations. Excellent interpersonal and written and communication skills, especially when communicating with External Experts and vendors. Strong influencing and negotiation skills and able to lead through change Capable of flexing/adapting to changing business priorities and marketplace/customer needs Ability to make informed strategic decisions and have foresight to predict/anticipate future scenarios Ability to lead complex, cross functional teams and subject matter experts; develop long term planning strategies and programs and independently implement Ability to lead, coach and teach others A proactive, dependable self-starter who takes initiative and is results oriented and meticulously detail oriented. Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess the following: Advanced degree in science or MBA and PMP. Deep understanding of strategy development and execution and operations management Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical/biologicals Medical Affairs activity and/or Medical Affairs experience (4+ years) Sound knowledge of life sciences & vaccination Ability to simplify complex concepts and communicate to diverse audiences. Ability to produce concise and simple summaries of concepts and solutions. Ability to build strong business relationships across various departments within GSK. Why GSK?
