Job Title: Research Assistant 2-B/H

Department: Medicine | Surgical Oncology

Research Assistant B/H to assist and support scientific investigation to study cancer as directed in the Comprehensive Cancer Center; independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Northern and Western analysis; sorts and processes tissue and blood samples; tests and evaluates current procedures; performs routine procedures on lab animals; records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results; assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepares research progress reports; assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conducts library research on requested topics through researching current literature; oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, including specimens, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.

Education/Experience:

A Bachelors degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Experience with T cell, CAR-T or CAR-NK cells, in addition to some in vitro and in vivo experience such as animal studies desired. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $15.10 to $22.50.
