Position Summary:

The Center for Health Care Data (CHCD) has a series of research and evaluation projects related to health outcomes and the impact of social determinants on population health. The ideal candidate uses knowledge of the healthcare system and payment methodologies paired with experience mining a broad range of complex health and welfare related datasets to analyze large Electronic Health Record (EHR) and administrative claims datasets, providing advanced statistical support and developing methodology plans. Responsible for creating the coding required to extract data to support researcher questions, occasionally. This position encourages creative thinking and depends on the ability to work productively with a wide range of team members including public health researchers and advocates, clinicians, statisticians, programmers, IT system experts, project managers, policy experts, etc

Position Key Accountabilities:
  • Collaborates with investigators and project managers to determine study design, contribute to protocol development, and write statistical analysis plans.
  • Recommends the use of specific analytical approaches best suited to each research or policy project.
  • Performs statistical analysis and inference, and writes and presents reports summarizing findings including publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • May write program code to analyze data using statistical analysis software.
  • Ensures high-quality statistical support is provided for investigational studies, projects, registries and basic research using advanced statistical skills and knowledge of healthcare research.
  • Maintains expertise in state-of-the-art data manipulation and statistical methodology.
  • May conduct ad hoc analyses.
  • May provide guidance and training in statistical analyses using healthcare data to junior team members and students
  • Other duties as assigned

Certification/Skills:
  • Demonstrates proficiency with statistical methods and applications in clinical or healthcare research.
  • Experience in data analysis of large administrative datasets (claims, registries, EMR) and observational studies.
  • SAS experienced preferred

Preferred:
  • Experience using machine learning and data mining big data
  • SAS STATA, or R experience.
  • SQLServer, PostgreSQL, or Python experienced


Minimum Education:
  • Master's degree in related health science.


Minimum Experience:
  • Five years of statistician experience


Physical Requirements:
  • Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
