Job Title: Research Assistant 1-B/H

Department: Medicine | School Biomedical Sciences Neuroscience

Research Assistant 1-B/H to assist and provide support of research studies in the biological underpinnings of social modulation of neural health and behavior as directed in the Department of Neuroscience and Institute for Behavioral Medicine Research; conducts planned research activities using observation, measurement and analytical techniques; prepares solutions and live culture media for scientific experiments; performs a variety of assays and experimental tests; collects, sorts and processes tissue and blood samples; records and consolidates research data; performs routine experimental procedures on laboratory animals including surgical procedures and/or administration of drugs; assists with care of laboratory animals; assists with preparation of data and materials for inclusion in research reports, publications and grant applications written by principal investigator; researches current scientific literature on specified topics; assists with instructing research aides, undergraduate and graduate students in laboratory procedures and operation of equipment; calibrates various laboratory equipment and operates microscopes, centrifuges and other laboratory equipment; assists with ordering, stocking and maintenance of research supplies.

Minimum Education and Skills/Experience Required/Desired

A Bachelor's degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
