Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as a Masonry Adjunct Instructor in our Carpentry/Cabinetmaking Department. Under general supervision, this individual will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction; evaluate students' progress in attaining goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes; academically advise students; attend faculty development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences as needed. This position is part-time/exempt. Please note the following information regarding this position:
  • May be required to teach high school students
  • May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County)
  • May require travel
Responsibilities:
  • Instruct students in Masonry skills
  • Comply with the College's policies and procedures
  • Promotes and supports student success
  • Create an effective learning environment and use teaching methods designed for a variety of learning styles
  • Assist with maintaining a classroom environment emphasizing safety, good housekeeping, and equipment security
  • Multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Adapt and respond to changing work situations and environments in a positive manner
  • Teach the depth and scope of class materials as outlined in curriculum and lesson plans
  • Develop hands on projects related to industry standards
  • Develop and administer exams
  • Perform classroom theory and hands-on shop instruction
  • Work effectively with diverse student and staff populations
  • Track and report student grades
  • Position will require standing for long periods of time, bending, kneeling, and lifting a minimum of 30lbs.
  • Must have strong communication, presentation, interpersonal & organizational skills
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have licensure/certification in related field required with an emphasis on competence gained through work experience
  • Minimum of (5) five years' Cement Masonry & Brick/Block Masonry work experience
  • Must have experience in logistics of concrete, general safety practices and be proficient in construction mathematics
  • Must have experience in blueprint reading
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior teaching experience utilizing technology in the classroom and conducting online instruction
  • Associate's Degree or Diploma in the teaching discipline
Salary/Benefits:

Salary is $25.00 per hour, no benefits.
