The Department of Physical Therapy offers the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and features the unique Problem Based Learning curricular model which has been successful in producing graduates with exceptional abilities for critical analysis, problem solving, communication and proactive involvement in healthcare. The local, regional and international service learning component of the curriculum in another highlight adding to the attributes of this program and making it a national model. This involves securing clinical sites, placing students in those sites, online and face to face teaching of subjects related to the practice of physical therapy and clinical education, and evaluating and giving feedback to both the students and the clinical instructors with whom the students were placed.

* Teach the Physical Therapy curriculum within the Physical Therapy Program.

* Participate in APTA Conferences, university service, Physical Therapy faculty meetings, retreats, and other departmental activities including participation in department decision making process.

* Mentor academic advisees and research advisees.

* Evaluate students to determine entry-level proficiency to proceed with clinical education experience.

* Archive student documents necessary for education assignments, ascertaining that students submit all documents in a timely manner.

Doctoral Degree (Ph. D., Ed. D., D. Sc, and DPT) or have a formal plan in place for the acquisition of said degree. An academic doctorate is preferred.

Must be licensed in PT and have two years of work experience. Experience as a clinical instructor is desirable.

Licensed or eligible for licensure as a PT in West Virginia. Expertise in neurological rehabilitation preferred.
