*Position Summary:*

The [University of Idaho](https://www.uidaho.edu) seeks to build on our strength in mathematical, statistical, and computational modeling by adding up to six new tenure-track faculty. We will hire outstanding researchers who use diverse modeling skills to address public health challenges along the continuum from pathogen dynamics at the human-wildlife interface, to emerging disease prediction and prevention, to rural health disparities. Hires will be at the assistant or associate professor level, and research pairs or teams are encouraged to apply. This is a cross-institutional initiative with departmental appointments based on the specialty areas of the successful candidates. Although all types of modeling and data science will be considered, we are particularly interested in individuals with expertise in epidemiology, artificial intelligence / machine learning, molecular modeling, data analytics and visualization, mathematical and statistical modeling, and geospatial modeling.

*Minimum Qualifications:*

*Assistant Professor tenure-track position*
* Education: Ph.D. in a biological, social, physical science or other modeling-related discipline
* Expertise in at least one area of mathematical / computational / statistical modeling or data science as demonstrated by publications using that expertise
* Demonstrated written and oral communication skills

*Associate Professor tenure-track position *
* Education: Ph.D. in a biological, social, physical science or other modeling-related discipline
* Expertise in at least one area of mathematical / computational / statistical modeling or data science as demonstrated by publications using that expertise
* A minimum of 5 years of research in modeling-related discipline beyond the PhD
* Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
* Teaching experience
* A research funding and publication record appropriate for the level of Associate Professor

*Preferred Qualifications:*

*Assistant Professor tenure-track position*
* Postdoctoral research in modeling-related discipline
* Teaching experience
* Success in acquiring research funding
* Experience working on disease or public health modeling
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team

*Associate Professor tenure-track position *
* Experience working on disease or public health modeling
* Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Evidence of research team leadership
