The VP/Dean of Nursing will:

* Articulate a compelling vision and corresponding strategic plan that will guide the nursing department to become a national leader in education, research, scholarship, and practice, and be committed to interdisciplinary academic and clinical excellence.
* Evaluate the nursing department's current organizational structure, resources, and management, making appropriate changes necessary to support its continued growth. The VP/Dean of Nursing will engage faculty in the process of continuous improvement of the curriculum and the identification of changes, enhancements and additions that address both current and anticipated demand.
* Establish a strong partnership with senior leadership of the program's clinical partners, including AdventHealth, demonstrating entrepreneurship and innovation regarding how the nursing department can help to address the system's, region's, as well as the state's, health care needs. This will include establishing strong partnerships with the chief nursing officers and other senior leadership within the clinical partners and proactively identifying opportunities to expand the nursing department's programs that will address the region's workforce demands. The VP/Dean of Nursing will be a member of various AdventHealth nursing councils related to workforce, strategy, and vision planning.
* Establish prominence to the nursing programs by actively participating in local, regional, state and national health care and academic organizations (e.g. local hospitals, health departments, CCNE, AACN and other accrediting bodies, professional nursing organizations at the state, national and international levels). The VP/Dean of Nursing will participate in influencing health policy for the state and region in alignment with AHU goals.
* Collaborate with academic partners, board members, simulation operations team members, clinical partners, and other system functions to ensure an integrated approach to high quality nursing education.
* Create an environment that supports faculty in their research and scholarly efforts to foster scholarship and innovative research and build upon AHU's visibility as a research institution; work collaboratively with AdventHealth nursing leadership to establish a collaborative research agenda.
* Direct the budget process and manage fiscal resources across the nursing department. Identify and develop an infrastructure and allocate resources to support operations as appropriate while ensuring long-term department viability. The VP/Dean of Nursing will consult with leaders to inform AHU's operational and capital budget and actively participate in development efforts to increase private support from individuals, foundations, and corporations for initiatives that promote the quality of education as well as the continued quality of faculty research and clinical practice.
* Demonstrate executive leadership through transparency, integrity, and consistency in all interactions and collaborations with peers, supporting them as well as holding them accountable as members of the team.
* Drive the organization's efforts to promote, attract, recruit, develop and retain high performing employees and leaders while fostering a culture focused on delivering world-class nursing education achieved through an exceptional and highly engaged workforce that is committed to continuous improvement.
Qualifications
What You Will Need:
*KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:*

* Assure consistent nursing practice using contemporary research and practice based on solid, validated evidence
* Recognized as a leader, possessing outstanding communication, listening and interpersonal skills
* Establish credibility and rapport with a broad set of senior executives and staff; demonstrate a strong understating of industry and technology trends
* Experience in organizations where continuous improvement has been part of the organization's fabric
* Experience with institutional and programmatic accreditation standards and regulatory requirements
* Knowledge of shared governance systems and strong background in higher education settings with demonstrated commitment to shared governance and academic freedom, balanced with the ability to move initiatives forward in a collaborative manner
* Assessment of student learning outcomes and core curriculum requirements
* Knowledge of strategic planning process and plan implementation
* Knowledge of the role of academic affairs in student recruitment / retention and capacity to communicate academic programs to prospective students and the community
* Ability to align course offerings with enrollment needs, space availability, faculty qualifications, and capacity for content delivery
* Proven track record of success in leading an organization to consistent financial and operations success
* Leverage systems thinking and best practice orientation to identify innovative opportunities to work smarter; build ownership for change
* Demonstrate a strategic, proactive, and visionary approach
* Knowledge of enterprise systems (Learning Management Systems, Testing Software, Student Management Systems, etc.) in the academic environment

* Serve as official liaison between AHU and AdventHealth on issues of academic programming, clinical placement, and workforce planning

* Experience as a leader in academics or practice
* Experience in emerging educational technology
* Experience obtaining grants / funding
*EDUCATION REQUIRED:*

* Doctoral degree in Nursing or related field from a regionally accredited school
* A non-nursing doctoral degree needs at minimum to have a graduate degree in nursing

*Education Preferred*:

* PhD in Nursing from a regionally accredited school
*EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:*

* Evidence of successful leadership in academia and practice; as well as success in an educator role
* Minimum 5 years in clinical practice or higher education
*Experience Preferred*:

* Leading a team of health care providers and/or faculty
* Strategic planning for academic program or operations
*LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:*

* Current, unencumbered Nursing Florida and Colorado License
* At a minimum, must be eligible for these state licensures

The VP/Dean of Nursing is responsible for visionary leading throughout certificate, bachelor, master, and doctoral nursing programs, in addition to working collaboratively with academic administration and other academic departments for high quality program development and implementation. The VP/Dean of Nursing will be a person of high integrity, a courageous and transformative leader, a change agent, builder, and risk taker. As a visionary leader, the VP/Dean of Nursing will build on the current success of the University and its faculty and develop the department as a national leader in teaching, research, practice, scholarship, and service. The VP/Dean of Nursing will also work with other internal and external partners, including AdventHealth Chief Nursing Executives to align key organizational nursing needs, provide intellectual leadership, strategic direction, scholarship advancement, and change management for the dynamic future of nursing education.
