Organization Type
The School of Social Sciences, Communication, & Humanities is hiring instructors to teach sections of ENG112 Critical Reading & Writing II in the Spring 2022 semester (January 24-May 13).

ENG112 completes a required year-long sequence of courses for all Endicott first-year students. Enrollment in each in-person section is capped at 16 and readings focus on a theme selected by the instructor.

ENG112 builds on the skills of critical reading and writing introduced in ENG 111. ENG 112 requires students to locate and select evidence from primary and secondary sources and to synthesize multiple perspectives on a problem. Students survey the conversation on a selected topic in an annotated bibliography and literature review, and enter that conversation by developing their own argument in a final research essay.

Instructors will be expected to do the following:
  • Follow the existing syllabus template and honor each course's description and learning outcomes.
  • Teach their sections in their assigned time blocks
  • Be aware of and abide by Endicott's academic policies, policies in the College's faculty handbook and any policies that may be in place due to COVID-19 or any variant thereof
  • Use Canvas as the course's learning management system
  • Meet deadlines for roster verification and submission of grades
  • Communicate with the Faculty Lead for Humanities if and when issues arise concerning the teaching of ENG112
  • Meet with students if they request assistance or need clarification for any course-related matter.
  • If requested, provide samples of student work for assessment purposes
  • Use their Endicott email address when communicating with students
  • Doctorate in English, Composition and Rhetoric, or related field preferred; Master's degree required.
  • Teaching experience required, preferably at the college-level.
