CU Cancer Center is a consortium of approximately 300 researchers and physicians at three state universities and three healthcare delivery institutions.Job Summary:The Associate Director (AD) for Translational Research (TR) will be a key member of the Cancer Center's Executive Leadership team and will be responsible for fostering translational research activities across the division of medical oncology, as well as the academic and clinical consortium members of the CU Cancer Center.Position Emphasis:
Serves as principal scientific advisor to the Director and other Senior Leaders in areas of translational research. Represents the Director before internal institutional and external constituencies in the area of cancer translational research expertise. Participates actively in the preparation of the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) application, site visits, and non-competitive renewal application/progress report processes. Provides management and scientific input to the components of the CCSG in the area of translational research, including structure and content, and reviews drafts and final copy to assure coherence and alignment with the CU Cancer Center strategies and goals. Prepares specific components of the grant application, as appropriate.Develop systems that show the evidence that research relevant to the catchment area is being addressed. Provide oversight and coordination of data reporting as it relates to research grants.Actively participates in CU Cancer Center leadership management committees, including but not limited to the Executive Committee, Governance Committee, Shared Resource Management Committee (as appropriate), among others.Build and maintain relationships between the CU Cancer Center and other offices within the university, such as the central grants office and translational and other pertinent entities. Act as a representative of the CU Cancer Center in interactions with other entities.Serves as a principal participant in the development of the CU Cancer Center strategic plan, including the identification of priorities, development of goals and tactics, advocacy within internal and external constituencies, and review and revision of plans on a recurring basis.Responsible for insuring the CU Cancer Center remains in compliance with University, state and sponsor policies and procedures.Responsible for overseeing the translational activities of the CCSG, identifying and facilitating the translation of member research from "benchtop to bedside and back" when possible. Work with other ADs and program leaders to ensure translational research projects are successful, and in using translational observations to inform basic and population science research.Salary and Benefits:The salary range (or hiring range) has been established at: $250,000 - $350,000The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.The University of Colorado offers a full benefits package. Qualifications
*Minimum Qualifications:*
PhD or MD/PhD from accredited Institution in U.S., or equivalent, if a non-U.S. graduate. Track record of successful NIH funded research in oncology, with translational endpoints.*Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.**Preferred Qualifications:*
The candidate must have excellent scientific skills pertaining to medical oncology in general and a proven track -record in translational and/or correlative laboratory-based oncology research.*Knowledge, Skills, Abilities*
