Position Summary:The Associate Dean of Faculty collaborates with and assists the Dean of Student and Academic Affairs with administrative, strategic, and research-based support for program and discipline assessment, advancement of academic rigor, research and development of student success strategies, and serves as a member of the Academic and Student Affairs Management Team. In addition, the Associate Dean of Faculty manages the academic divisions. This includes the design and development of courses and curricula, and the direction of assigned faculty and staff in teaching and administering the instructional programs at a two-year Connecticut Community College which offers degree and certificate programs in a broad range of liberal arts, occupational, and career studies
Incumbents must possess a proven ability to effectively work with a culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and student. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with six (6) or more years as a full-time faculty member and three (3) or more years as an academic administrator; or a combination of education, training, and experience which would provide the competencies required for successful performance of the position's essential duties.

* Management of operating budgets and plans.
* Organizational and administrative skills.
* Highly developed interpersonal skills.
* Development and execution of strategic plans in a higher education environment.

Example of Job Duties:Under the direction of the Dean of Student and Academic Affairs supervises the faculty members of the Divisions including Department Chairs and Program Coordinators, and may direct some adjunct faculty members through Department Chairs and Program Coordinators. The position also supervises professional, technical, and support staff in performing the administrative, laboratory, and technology work of the Divisions.
The Associate Dean of Faculty has a role to provide assistance to the Dean of Student and Academic Affairs in areas of academic administration. The Associate Dean of Faculty is accountable for assuring the successful conduct of the Division's programs and for the optimum learning outcomes of its students through by effective performance in these essential duties:

* Program and Curriculum Design and Development: The Associate Dean of Faculty is accountable for performing and directing the design and development of comprehensive academic programs to assure effective long-term learning benefits appropriate for the communities served by the College.
* Faculty Selection and Professional Development: The Associate Dean of Faculty is accountable for recruiting and selecting faculty members with academic qualifications and proven teaching competence appropriate for the instructional requirements of the College and accrediting bodies; and for assuring their professional development to achieve and uphold the teaching standards of the College.
* Instructional Quality: The Associate Dean of Faculty is accountable for assuring the quality of instruction in the Divisions and for assuring the appropriate learning outcomes for each Divisions' student.
* Budget and Fiscal Management: The Associate Dean of Faculty is accountable for the effective management of financial resources and is required to answer for the value of academic results achieved with financial investments in program operation.
* Administration and Resource Management: The Associate Dean of Faculty is accountable for assuring the effective functioning of the Divisions and their programs as well as for providing facilities, equipment, technology, and other resources needed to carry out each of the Division's missions.
* Program Evaluation and Assessment: The Associate Dean of Faculty is accountable for assuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the Division's programs and teaching efforts by measuring and evaluating results and taking needed action to correct deficiencies.
* Community Relations: The Associate Dean of Faculty is accountable for developing and maintaining active support for each of the Division's academic and applied programs among employers, community leaders, and accrediting bodies.
* Assistance and support to the Dean of Student and Academic Affairs: The Associate Dean of Faculty is accountable for providing managerial support to the Dean.
* Student Relations: The Associate Dean of Faculty is accountable for contributing to the attraction and retention of students to each Division's academic programs and their successful academic performance in the programs.

Starting Salary:$85,478 to $106,848 (midpoint) approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. Salary Range for this level is $85,478-$128,218.
