Computer Science and Cyber Security at Salford
We're investing in people, technology, and facilities to fuel the growth and impact of Computer Science and related specialist provision at the University of Salford - a powerhouse of industry engaged digital innovation in Greater Manchester.
Building on our rich heritage of industry engagement we're looking to accelerate research and enterprise in this vibrant academic area and we're searching for the best teaching talent to develop the next generation of Computer Scientists, AI specialists, Software Engineers, Cyber Security experts and Data Scientists.
Cyber Security is developing rapidly at the University. Undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are experiencing significant growth. The University is part of the ERDF funded GM Cyber Foundry, which is supporting businesses across the region, and is developing strong relationships with national, governmental and commercial organisations, many of whom have plans to re-locate to Manchester.
We're expanding our core team of academics working in Cyber Security to further develop our academic capacity and to enhance our links with industry and key national stakeholders. Join us and be part of a diverse, future-facing team that's deeply engaged with Industry and constantly evolving to unlock innovation.
Who are we looking for?
We're seeking a Professor of Cyber Security who is passionate about research leadership and industry engagement, and is also able to contribute to the development and delivery of high-quality taught programmes in this specialist domain.
We're keen to receive applications from candidates with research strength across the range of Forensics, Information Security, Privacy, Network Security and Applied Cryptography. Applications are also encouraged form those with inter-disciplinary expertise, such as legal aspects of security or application of machine learning to security. The ability to develop synergies with other existing areas of strength such as Data Science, Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence would be an advantage.
We welcome applications from both established senior academic leaders within the sector and also from suitably qualified candidates from industry who can demonstrate equivalent senior-level experience and ability.
