DUTIES:

The School of Theater and Dance is excited to recruit an interdisciplinary designer specializing in scenic and lighting design. This tenure track position will be part of a re-envisioning of design programs in the College of the Arts and the School of Theater and Dance.

Position Assistant Professor, Scenic and/or Lighting Design with interdisciplinary interests. This position is a 9-month tenure earning faculty position with a start date of August 2022.

Duties Faculty in the School of Theater and Dance are required to maintain an active research agenda and annually report on progress toward promotion and tenure. Teaching responsibilities will include three (3) assignments per semester. These may be comprised of a combination of courses and production assignments. Typical service responsibilities include mentoring and advising students, work on School, College, and/or University committees, professional memberships, and curricular development.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Terminal Degree in theatre design and / or technology or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Ability to teach Scenic Design and/or Lighting Design, and other Design courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to design scenery and/or lights for main stage productions in theatre, dance, musicals, and in other interdisciplinary interests

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated professional theatre design and / or technology experience
  • University teaching experience in areas such as Intro to Design, Drafting, Design History, Stage Properties, 3-D Modeling, Vectorworks, CAD, Projection Design, Scene Painting, and skills for other media
  • Inclusive pedagogical practices
  • National and/or international professional design credits in theatre, dance, or other performance genres
  • Interdisciplinary research involving design and technology in other fields
