BAI plays a critical role in building a modern Inclusive American Dream where UCI Innovation meets industry and accelerate' s discoveries and proved entrepreneurs what they need to succeed. Beall Applied Innovation facilitates connections between UCI and Industry. Our building, known as the COVE provides entrepreneurs access to University inventions and talent, guides large corporations to tap into the school's research capabilities, and works with investors wanting to financially support promising new companies. Operating within the Enterprise Collaborations Group, the Research and Business Intelligence Manager works to support strategic enterprise-wide collaboration efforts. The Research and Business Intelligence Manager develops and operates tools designed to track the performance of activities related to new and existing relationships, the development and maintenance of capabilities portfolios, and reports and measurements of the outcomes of the effort. The Research and Business Intelligence Manager may oversee the development of tools in addition to use of industry standard tools and applications. The Research and Business Intelligence Manager may oversee a team of data analytics and software engineering interns and fellows. The manager's actions will support and inform portfolio management through a combination of industry analysis and knowledge of research activities on campus and beyond. The Research and Business Intelligence Manager develops and maintains written reports and profiles, on targeted partners and industry sectors. Composes documents (profiles, biographies, project summaries) using style, grammar, and content appropriate to specific audiences. Interprets and translates complex financial, legal and corporate language into easily comprehensible terms while adhering to University standards of discretion and confidentiality. Extracts and communicates key information which directs engagement opportunities and strategies. Maintains active awareness of the important news and events related to targeted industry clusters. Using creative research techniques provides high-level research using a wide variety of, including online databases, websites, library and government sources and other external repositories of public information. Analyzes and evaluates research results to develop and implement further research strategies. Compensation Range: $59,623.00 - $102,576.00 Department Website: https://innovation.uci.edu/enterprise-collaborations-group/ Required: Minimum of two (2) years' experience in research commercialization or consulting services field. Professional experience, education, business acumen, judgment and integrity to effectively serve constituents while representing and advancing institutional interests. Minimum of two (2) years' experience in research commercialization or consulting services field. Proven experience in team leadership and ability to work well with people. Use of skill and sensitivity in both internal and external relations, especially in working with interns, volunteers and students. Skill in performing highly-specialized market research analysis using a combination of scientific and industry specific commercial databases and web resources; ability to create and refine database and internet search strategies. Demonstrated ability to independently accomplish work assignments in a timely manner despite changing priorities and frequent interruptions. Excellent problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to negotiate and successfully resolve conflict. Demonstrated ability to prepare complex reports to internal and external customers. Proven experience using business database systems such as IBIS, EBSCO, Pitchbook, Crunchbase Proven experience using industry specific databases such as NCBI Pubmed, GlobalData, Proven experience using research intelligence tools such as SciVal and SCOPUS. Demonstrated refined written, oral, and presentations communication skills: including the ability to write technical, marketing, and educational material that is clear, comprehensive, and grammatically correct. Minimum of one (1) year experience in the use of analytics tools such as Alteryx, Python, or R. Preferred: Master's Degree in a STEM field, with a focus on Healthcare or Information Sciences, preferred. Final candidate subject to background check.
