West Chester University of Pennsylvania's Department of Nutrition invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Nutrition witha specialty in community nutrition and public health to begin in August 2022.

The College of Health Sciences offers many graduate programs, including one of the University's four doctoral degrees and a diverse range of master's degrees and certificate options. The mission of the Department of Nutrition in the College of Health Sciences at West Chester University is to shape tomorrow's nutrition and dietetics professionals and leaders through quality, relevant, and innovative teaching, service, and scholarship. The Nutrition Department offers degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels; undergraduate Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) (accredited), Lifestyle Nutrition concentration and Sustainable Food Systems Management concentration, and Master of Science in Community Nutrition (MSCN)/ Dietetic Internship (accredited). The degree and curriculum options offer a wide variety of rewarding career opportunities including clinical dietetics, community/public health nutrition, sports nutrition, wellness, foodservice management, and sustainable food systems and state of the art interprofessional and simulation opportunities.

Responsibilities include:
  • Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses including, but not limited to, Nutrition through the Lifecycle; Nutrition Counseling; Maternal/child Nutrition; Public Health Nutrition; Nutrition, Health and Aging; and Nutrition Policy.
  • Contributing to the curriculum and curriculum development in the undergraduate and graduate/dietetic internship programs
  • Conducting research and other types of scholarly activities compatible with the teacher-scholar model
  • Directing student projects
  • Mentoring and advising Students
  • Serving the University and the community through participation in various committees
  • Administrative duties assigned as needed

The typical course load involves teaching four courses per semester. Assignments may include opportunities for teaching at off-campus sites and/or through distance learning.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Nutrition or related field (ABD by application and terminal degree completed by the date of hire will be considered witha letter from the dissertation chair outlining timeline for completion.)
  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist credential (RD or RDN)
  • Work experience in community nutrition and/or public health and/or maternal/child nutrition

Preferred Qualifications
  • Didactic teaching experience
  • Teaching experience with learning management systems such as Blackboard, D2L or Canvas
  • Teaching experience with adult learners and distance education technology
