The ABET-accredited Department of Software Engineering in the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering seeks candidates to help meet the strong demand for graduates to work in software applications, cybersecurity and other computationally based industries as we expand degree programs and collaborate with faculty in disciplines such as computer and information sciences, mathematics, statistics, bioinformatics, computational chemistry and others.

We are currently seeking two professors at the Assistant/Associate rank, each possessing a Ph.D. in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering or closely related field.

Successful candidates will teach, be involved in course and/or curriculum development, take part in college and university committees and initiatives and engage in community service. Help strengthen and expand the course of this burgeoning department located on FGCU's lush 800-acre campus where sustainability is a primary focus. A 125,000-squrefoot LEED-certified classroom and lab building will open in the current academic year.

*Additional Job Description**Required Qualifications*
* An earned Doctorate in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or in a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution or equivalent accreditation.
* ABD for the assistant rank will be considered if degree is conferred by the start date. If the successful candidate is ABD, appointment will be made at the Lecturer level on a fixed contract.
* Candidates seeking appointment at the Associate Rank should have demonstrable evidence of significant contributions in teaching and scholarship.
* Teaching, research, and professional service interests in Software Engineering.
* Scholarship and/or industry experience in Software Engineering
*Preferred Qualifications*

* Teaching and research interests in disciplinary areas that complement and/or supplement the expertise within the software engineering department.
* Prior experience in teaching, research, industry, and/or extramural funding.
*Knowledge, Skills & Abilities*

* Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate software engineering courses, and mentor students.
* Ability to publish in regional, national, and international venues appropriate to the discipline.
* Ability to deal effectively with a diverse range of learners and to use information technology as a pedagogical and professional tool.
* Have skills in working in a rapidly developing regional comprehensive university with a focus on creating a student-learning environment among diverse academic disciplines.
* Potential for success and achieving excellence in university teaching, scholarship, and service.
* Potential to develop grant proposals and seek extramural funding - Assistant Rank.
* Evidence of success in seeking extramural funding - Associate Rank.
