How you'll fit in:As a key member of our R+D team, you will work with a team of scientists who create an engaging, exciting atmosphere full of learning opportunities and innovative new discoveries. As an R&D Chemist your job will be to enhance our current products and develop new products that leverage the latest market trends and technologies. Every day, you'll use your technical knowledge and background to create products and services that drive the growth of our customers and improve the lives of their consumers. Strong communication skills and a history of developing forward thinking, innovative approaches to formulation will help you collaborate with and lead the rest of the team.

What you'll do:Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Formulating new products, utilizing alternate raw materials, and improving existing products.
• Evaluate and source new and alternative raw materials.
• Participate in process improvement and development of manufacturing methods.
• Oversee trial production and initial production batches.
• Develop product proposals.
• Develop and reformulate products according to a laboratory prototype.
• Collaborate with other teams regarding product formulation, application, and trial support.
• Provide training, technical expertise and support to other areas of business.
• Identify opportunities for quality enhancement and operational efficiencies.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records and translating data into clear, well-written technical reports.
• Perform routine analytical and physical tests.
• Ensures the maintenance to good laboratory practices and all safety regulations both in laboratory and manufacturing areas.
• Assist in formulation and development of new personal care and homecare products.
• Review existing categories to enable product improvement/range expansion.
• Liaise with the Business Development team re project briefs.
• Conduct multiple product development projects simultaneously.
• Participate in and contribute to the goals of the team including internal and external meetings.
• Support protocols that define product evaluation methods and standards.
• Resolve and escalate quality issues.
• Prepare documentation - customer Product information, substantiation, and compliance, TGA, SDS.
• Review packaging, labelling, and marketing compliance.

What you have:

• 3+ years' experience working in personal care and OTC formula development
• 1+ years leading product development of new, innovative formulas and ingredients
• A Bachelor's degree in chemistry or closely related field
• Track record of being able to deliver innovative solution to tough formulation problems
• Impressive interpersonal and communication skills in small and large groups
• An interest in the role that new technology can play in product development
• The ability to make tough decisions quickly, and to take ownership over the outcome
• Strong literacy skills, the ability to communicate confidently verbally and in writing.
• A focused approach to your work.
• Outstanding problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively and efficiently while under pressure.
• Ability to take ideas from concept to laboratory to manufacturing.
• A history of delivering sustainable continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as in a small team environment.
• Knowledge and understanding of applicable Regulatory requirements, GMP, quality and safety management principles.
• Strong Microsoft Office and ERP skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Work safely and follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies and procedures
• Employees are required to wear eye protection and lab coats while in the lab area
• Works frequently in a lab environment, handling of chemicals
• Requires standing and bending
• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 lb
