These values are central to our mission. We strive for a climate of respect and inclusiveness that welcomes and supports members from diverse backgrounds and life experiences, is committed unreservedly to open and free inquiry, and deliberately seeks out multiple perspectives. Xavier University invites applications for a non-tenure-track, yearly-renewable Teaching Professor faculty position in the Department of Biology to begin in Fall, 2022. The Teaching Professor position is renewable on a yearly basis, with the potential after six years for promotion to Senior Teaching Professor with a rolling two-year renewable contract. Candidates must be dedicated to undergraduate teaching. The individual must minimally hold a M.S. degree in an area of the biological sciences. Responsibilities include teaching introductory courses for allied health students in Anatomy and Physiology and/or Microbiology, as well as non-science majors' human biology and occasional science majors' labs. Some departmental or university committee, student or task force service is also expected. The successful candidate should bring a passion for teaching undergraduates. Xavier's location in Cincinnati, a vibrant city with multiple major research hospitals, allows faculty to work with community partners to engaged learning opportunities. Xavier is a member of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities as well as the Big East. U.S. News and World Report has ranked the University 20 years in a row among the top 10 Midwest colleges and universities. The Biology Department is committed to a diverse and inclusive environment. We welcome a broad spectrum of candidates, and particularly invite applications from women, ethnic and racial minorities, and other individuals who are under-represented in the profession. Applicants should submit the following to Xavier University's website, an application letter, curriculum vitae and statement of teaching philosophy that incorporates how you can support diversity and inclusion. Finalists will be asked for letters of recommendation. Review of applications will begin January 31, 2022. Questions may be sent to the Chair of the Biology Department, Dr. Jennifer Robbins at robbins@xavier.edu. Xavier University will require all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by January 3, 2022. Newly hired employees will be required to provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination upon on-boarding. Vaccine exemptions may be granted for medical or religious reasons.
