Position Summary The Department of Modern and Classical Languages in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Japanese at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, to begin fall semester 2022. The specialization for this position is open: pedagogy, linguistics, applied linguistics, cultural studies or literature. We are seeking candidates with a strong background in Japanese language pedagogy and cultural studies. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at all levels of the Japanese language program and to develop and grow this well-established Japanese program, especially in the area of the program offerings in cultural studies. Applicants must demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students, and ongoing scholarship. Native or near native fluency in both Japanese and English is required. Ph.D. in Japanese or related field required; ABD candidates will be considered.
