Boulder Scientific Company (BSC) is headquartered in Mead, CO, and is a premier provider of organometallic compounds and other specialty chemicals used in a wide range of applications. BSC is a pioneer and leading manufacturer of metallocene catalysts and co-catalysts that are primarily used to produce metallocene polyethylene, polypropylene and elastomers, but also supplies products into Electronics, Pharmaceutical and Defense applications. BSC operates two sites in Northern Colorado, which include: a main production facility in Mead and a second facility in Longmont. We are seeking a QC Chemist II/III. This person will conduct quality control analysis on substances to support Production at our Longmont (Specialty Place) location utilizing quantitative and qualitative analyses. The QC Chemist II/III will utilize appropriate analytical methodologies and instrumentation to perform all duties. Level will be commensurate with experience.

Job Responsibilities
  • Runs analytical instruments within the analytical laboratory such as: NMR, GC-FID, GC-MS, and Karl Fischer titrations
  • Performs independent analyses in the laboratory
  • Compiles and interprets results of analyses
  • Performs "in-process" testing of production samples generated at Specialty Place
  • Performs flow testing for Cell 1 at Specialty Place
  • Prepares, validates and reviews laboratory standards
  • Participates in training new QC chemists
  • Participates in troubleshooting instrument issues and performs validations and maintenance of instruments located at Specialty Place
  • Maintains production analytical instrumentation used at Specialty Place
  • Participates in the maintenance of the gloveboxes and other laboratory equipment in both R&D laboratories
  • Works with minimal supervision
  • Provides and maintains a safe work environment for all chemists
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Science with three to six years of industry experience

Experience
  • Basic wet chemistry experience such as titrations and digestions
  • Experience running analyses in safe manner with proper PPE
  • Quality control experience preferred
  • NMR and GC experience preferred
Working ConditionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee will be required to wear appropriate PPE at all times.
