Essential Functions and Objectives:

-The School Nurse will assist with all COVID-19 related and reduce the impact on the School District by providing COVID-19 support including tracking, notifying staff and students/families regarding quarantine/isolation and mask guidance, advising administrators, attendance data, coordinating online learning opportunities, completing Outbreak Status forms for Public Health, and daily parent communication via email, phone call, or text.
-The School Nurse will assist with activities to help families access health insurance, coordinate care, provide health care service education, assist with setting up medical, dental, and mental health services and ensure immunization compliance.
-The School Nurse will increase the coordination of all health care for families.
-The School Nurse will collaborate with other school and health care staff to maintain a safe and healthy environment and promote an optimal level of wellness to enhance the educational process of students.
- Works to remove, modify, or reduce health-related barriers to learning.
- Provides well student care, health care, first aid, immunization record maintenance, and assistance to students throughout the school district.
- Performs screenings for vision, hearing, height, weight, and/or other conditions that require referrals and follow-up care.
- Completes, updates, and maintains student records (accident reports, health records) using the District software system (Infinite Campus), and completes and submits reports.
- Will supervise health paraprofessionals and other health staff in assigned locations and perform staff training.
- Conducts programs and/or activities (e.g. health screening, health education, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with government-mandated requirements
- Develops Health Care Plans and/or 504 Plans for the purpose of addressing students' health needs and implementing health care directions from parents and/or physicians.
- Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns.
- Participates in a variety of meetings, workshops, and seminars, including IEP, (e.g. local/state health meetings, programs, 504's, child studies) for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving skills/knowledge.
-Works closely with diabetic students, students with seizures, students with asthma, and other chronic health care conditions..

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 40% sitting, 30% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment
