King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC) is a tertiary care, state of the art Hospital situated in the cities of Riyadh, Jeddah, and Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. KFSH&RC is the national referral center for Oncology, Organ Transplantation, Cardiovascular Diseases, Neurosciences, and Genetic Diseases with postgraduate education programs that support both Residency and Fellowship Training. The Research Centre at KFSH&RC pursues advanced research in the areas of Cancer, Cell Biology, Radiopharmaceuticals Production, Infectious Diseases, Stem Cell, and other programs dedicated to the advancement of science and the translation of research findings into better healthcare. Organ Transplant Centre

The Centre provides multi-disciplinary tertiary care for patients with organ failure and surgical treatment for conditions that affect the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, pancreas, and duodenum. The Centre has one of the largest pediatric liver transplant programs worldwide, performing ABO incompatible pediatric liver transplantation and the Fully Laparoscopic Living Donor Hepatectomy to be transplanted in pediatric recipients.

•Liver transplant program ranked 1st in the volume of living donor liver transplants out of 137 liver transplant centers in the USA and in the volume of pediatric liver transplants out of 54 Pediatric liver transplant centers in the USA reporting to Organ Procurement (OPTN) and Transplantation Network and the Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR).

•The lung transplant program is the only comprehensive program in the region that performs lung transplants and manages patients with various end-stage lung diseases.

•The pancreas Transplant Program was fully activated in 2014.

•For the year 2014, the total number of transplants performed by the Organ Transplant Centre was 310 (175 kidney transplants, 123 liver transplants, 10 lung transplants, and 2 pancreas transplants) with excellent outcomes comparable with world-leading institutions in the USA.

We are seeking candidates for the Chairman position for the Department of Liver & Small Bowel Health Centre, Organ Transplant Centre of Excellence. The ideal candidate will be responsible to run our Liver Transplant Program, which represents a significant component of the KFSH&RC Organ Transplant Centre. This year, a total of 87 liver transplantation procedures were conducted including cadaveric & living-related liver transplants. In addition, approximately 100 hepatobiliary and pancreatic procedures were carried out with a more than 95% survival rate. The selected and appointed Chairman will join a team of six consultant surgeons, four assistant surgeons, four consultant transplant hepatologists, and three assistant transplant hepatologists.

Qualified candidates must have graduated from an accredited medical school, completed the required period of training, specialty, and sub-specialty with Board certification & membership or fellowship status in the United Kingdom or Canada, or equivalent. Sub-specialty training and certification (if applicable) are required. The chairman should have post-training (residency and fellowship, if applicable, i.e. after board certification or equivalent); independent clinical experience of at least (10) years and must have teaching and research accomplishments. Publications records must be original articles in peer-reviewed journals and the number of publications should be a minimum of 10 years Administrative experience as Chairman/Deputy Chairman/Head of Section/Head of Medical Service or similar position should be a minimum of (5) years.
