Wave is looking to hire a Scientist I/II, Discovery Formulations and Analytics. This position is ideal for a scientist with a strong background in analytical chemistry who thrives in a team-oriented, fast-paced, biotech environment. The Scientist I/II will be an integral member of the oligo synthesis & process development team contributing to the preparation and analysis of oligonucleotide formulations as well as compound characterization and inventory management. This position is located at our site in Lexington, MA.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead a team of junior scientists in the development and preparation of oligonucleotide formulations for in vitro and in vivo experiments and ensure sample quality

• Prioritize team activities to enable timely delivery of formulations

• Perform assays using techniques such as UV, pH, osmolality, and bacterial endotoxin

• Operate and create novel methods for Hamilton liquid handler

• Analyze and evaluate oligonucleotide purity and identification by UPLC and LC/MS

• Maintain an accurate and traceable oligonucleotide inventory

• Communicate effectively with interdepartmental teams, such as discovery chemistry, synthesis and biology

• Document experimental results in ELN and register relevant sample data

• Support general laboratory function through instrument maintenance, troubleshooting and problem solving

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in chemistry or a related discipline with at least 3 years of experience in an industry environment (BS degree with 5 years of relevant experience)

• Previous experience with UPLC and LC/MS operation and analysis is strongly preferred

• Previous experience with automated liquid handler operation preferred

• Experience with data processing and calculations in Excel

• Meticulous attention to detail and data integrity

• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines

• Capable of working both independently and collaboratively

• Excellent problem-solving skills with adaptability to excel in a dynamic and shifting environment
