*Organizational Unit Overview:*The Office of Student Affairs actively supports the University's missions of education, research, and service by providing comprehensive programs and services to assist each student in developing intellectually, socially, morally, and culturally.

The Office of Student Affairs provides, and collaborates with other Academic Affairs offices to provide a broad range of support services, activities, and programs that seek to:

1. Enhance the academic performance of each student2. Provide the means for students to become active participants and leaders in their own learning3. Assist students in enhancing decision-making and lifelong learning skills4. Assist students with successful preparation for residency matching, including tracking student progress, career counseling, residency application and interview preparedness, and the technical aspects of ERAS, NRMP, Degree Works and Careers in Medicine5. Enhance the learning environment, facilitate retention, and optimize the student experience6. Accommodate the diverse needs of all students7. Contribute to the development of the whole individual by fostering in each student individual responsibility and an appreciation for human diversity8. Assist students in developing respect and appreciation for individual differences, interpersonal relationships, and human rights9. Create a healthy, supportive community environment10. Provide pertinent and timely information about Brody School of Medicine policies, about their academic development and performance, and about their career path.
*Job Duties :*This will be a full-time appointment with 75% of the effort dedicated Associate Dean for Foundational Sciences combined with a 25% faculty appointment in the candidate's specialty for a full-time appointment.

General Administration of Student Affairs (with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs (Clinical Sciences):o ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the OSA office.o solve issues which impact students throughout the medical school curriculumo provide leadership, administration, and management for the Office of Student Affairso develop work plans and personnel evaluations for all OSA employeeso administer leave and other work policies for OSA staffo provide oversight of the Registrar for the Brody School of Medicineo oversee student database management and reportingMedical Student Events:o assist with planning and delivery of the M1 orientation program.o provide support and planning to Admissions Office concerning Second Look and other initial events for newly admitted studentso assist with planning and delivery of the M2 orientation programo assist with other M1/M2 student event planning in which OSA has a role: student talent show, holiday events, etc.o provide support and assistance with other large OSA-sponsored events: white coat ceremony, Match ceremony, Graduation ceremony, and Transition to Residency Program.Policy Design, Implementation, and Planning:o Assist the SADAA, BSOM faculty committees and others in the design, planning and implementation of policies in at least the following areas:▪ Student Promotion and Review▪ Student Absences▪ Student Academic Achievement▪ Student Professional Conduct▪ Student Wellness▪ Student Needs and Health Accommodations
o Liaison with Course and Clerkship Directors regarding policies/procedureso Provide Support and Assistance to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs Clinical Sciences in order to provide limited career counseling for studentso Provide guidance and support to the M1/M2 Medical Student Promotion and Review Committee to ensure promotion and review processes are conducted in accordance with BSOM policies.o Develop, review, determine, and enforce policies related to Student Affairso Represent student interest and serve as a resource on Curriculum, Promotion and Review,
o Infection Control, Scholarship, and specific committees or task forceso Responsibility for LCME (Liaison Committee on Medical Education) Reportingo Provide a presence at regional and national AAMC meeting with specific emphasis on the Group on Student Affairso Support and serve as a liaison to the Office of Student Counselingo Support the Ombuds programo Track any student mistreatment data and present trendso Additional responsibilities assigned by the Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs
*Minimum Education/Experience :*MD, DO, PhD or JD

Experience in teaching or administration of programs subject to LCME accreditation.
Previous experience working in academic medicine administration and student affairs programs.
