The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at UCLA, Division of Anatomic Pathology, is searching for an outstanding PhD, MD, MD/PhD, or DO to join our Advanced Molecular Diagnostics Service as an Associate Laboratory Director. The successful candidate is ABMGG board certified or eligible for certification in Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics, Laboratory Genetics and Genomics (LGG) or dual boarded in Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics and Clinical Molecular Genetics and Genomics. California license or eligibility is required. Prior sign out experience in cytogenetics (>2 years) in a CLIA certified cytogenetics/molecular diagnostics laboratory is preferred. The appointment would be commensurate with experience, at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level.

The primary responsibily will be to interpret and report clinical cases in cytogenetics and may include sign out responsibilities in molecular genetics/pathology if the candidate has the required training and experience. The candidate also will be involved in assay development and troubleshooting of technical issues. Prior training or experience in clinical chromosomal microarray and cancer cytogenetic testing is required. Prior training or experience in interpreting clinical exome sequencing assays for diagnosis of germline genetic disorders and next generation sequencing (NGS) cancer panels is desired. Along with other faculty in the Service, the candidate will be responsible for participating in genetic rounds and in tumor boards and will share responsibility for training residents and fellows. Creative contributions in clinical, educational or research projects are expected; UCLA offers a highly collaborative research environment that promotes interactions among faculty in the School of Medicine.
