Department of Psychology

The Poldrack Lab in the department of Psychology is in looking a full time Research Scholar who will serve as Director of Open Science Projects for the lab. The research scholar will direct and manage the laboratory's open science projects, which include the OpenNeuro data sharing project, the Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS) project, and the Center for Open and Reproducible Science (CORES), part of Stanford Data Science. The Research Scholar will carry a significant role in this research effort by leading the day-to-day operations, carrying out strategic planning, applying for grants, and interfacing with collaborators and funding agencies.

This is a one-year fixed-term position with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Create project plans and coordinate research projects with faculty director
* Develop strategic initiatives to extend and enhance effectiveness of ongoing projects
* Write research reports for publication and present research results at relevant conferences
* Raise funds by writing grant proposals to federal agencies and working with university development teams
* Fulfill reporting duties to funding agencies through progress reports
* Sustainably manage project budget
* Interface with project collaborators, including advising faculty
* Spearhead formative and summative evaluations of research activities to meet program goals

QUALIFICATIONS

* Ph.D. degree in neuroscience, psychology, or relevant discipline with emphasis on open science and/or reproducibility required; prior postdoctoral experience is preferred.
* Deep knowledge of concepts and practices for open and reproducible science and their application across multiple scientific domains
* Superlative written, visual, and oral communications skills with proven ability to publish results in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences, as well as demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a broader non-expert audience
* Ability to effectively manage complex projects and work with broad teams of scientists and engineers from a range of scientific disciplines
* Experience organizing and working with research communities to develop and implement open and reproducible science practices
* Computer programming skills (R, Python) for data processing and statistical analysis
* Knowledge of data formats and data processing methods for neuroimaging data is preferred
* Knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g. Agile, Scrum) is preferred
* Knowledge of cloud computing and/or high-performance computing infrastructure is preferred
