Position Description: Dr. Gustavo Leone's Lab at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee is looking for an energized scientist to conduct research in cancer and developmental biology. Currently, projects utilize cell-based systems and mouse models to study Rb/E2F & PTEN signaling in the context of cell cycle control, during both typical cell division and endoreduplication, embryonic developmental and cancer initiation and progression (endometrial, liver, pancreatic, and breast cancers), as well as the genetics and biology of PTEN within the tumor microenvironment. Primary Functions * Design and perform lab procedures and experiments with minimal supervision. * Manage and operate lab equipment. * Train new employees in lab procedures. * Participate in meetings with principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data, develop methodologies, evaluate lab procedures. * Literature searches as needed. * Update/improve any techniques in lab as needed. * Maintain supplies, may negotiate with vendors, track purchase orders. * Maintain equipment, perform/supervise repairs and update computer hardware and software. Skills and abilities: * Experience with handling mice for breeding, weaning, and tagging. * Mouse embryonic work wound be a plus but not required. * RNA, DNA and protein isolation * cDNA generation is not required, but would be a plus * PCR and RT-PCR analysis * Experience working with electrophoretic techniques: DNA agarose gels, protein acrylamide gels and western blotting. * Cell culture Preferred Schedule: 8-5 M-F Position Requirements: Specifications Minimum Required Education: Master's degree Minimum Required Experience: No experience required Preferred Education: none Preferred Experience: Has experience working with mice.
