We are seeking applicants for a four-years PhD position within the division of Clinical Psychology and Animal-Assisted Interventions at the Faculty of Psychology, University of Basel. You will work with Prof. Dr. Karin Hediger and an interdisciplinary team to conduct research on predictors and effects of animal-assisted interventions in neurorehabilitation as well as look into neurovascular and autonomic mechanisms.

Your position

  • Design experimental studies to examine effects and mechanisms of animal-assisted interventions in neurorehabilitation for patients with acquired brain injuries
  • Interact with an interdisciplinary team and exchange with international leaders in the field
  • Coordinate experimental studies in a neurorehabilitation clinic and use different neurophysiological measurement techniques such as EEG or fNIRS to collect data
  • Analyze complex experimental data
  • Write scientific articles in collaboration with international experts
  • Contribute to the supervision of bachelor and master students as well as teaching
  • Contribute to the development of the division of Clinical Psychology and Animal-Assisted Interventions


Your profile

  • An excellent master's degree in psychology (neuropsychology preferably)
  • Very good methodological and statistical skills (using R preferably)
  • Strong interest in neurorehabilitation and neuropsychology
  • Previous experience with methods such as EEG or fNIRS is advantageous
  • Distinct social competence and communicative skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Independent, precise and reliable way of working
  • Interest in pursuing a scientific career
  • Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Good oral and written skills in German and English
