Job Description

Length: Year-round. The Digital Inclusion program provides community-based opportunities that use technology as a catalyst to foster creativity and improve the quality of life for the citizens of Raleigh. The Digital Inclusion Team offers a variety of classes to enhance the technology skills of its patrons. We offer Basic Computer Training for adults, as well as specialized technology classes to meet the demands of today's global economy.

Digital Inclusion is looking to hire an experienced, dependable, part-time teacher to instruct Specialized Technology courses and Digital Literacy courses for adults at Five Points, Anne Gordon, and Walnut Terrace Centers for Active Adults; with the flexibility of possibly instructing at other city community centers as needed. In addition to teaching adults, the candidate would also be responsible for working Digital Inclusion summer camps such as the popular RC Aeronautics Camp; where teenage campers learn to build and fly homemade remote-controlled aircraft. Locations

Applicant must be available to work at Five Points Center for Active Adults, Anne Gordon Center for Active Adults, and the Walnut Terrace Community Center with the flexibility of potentially instructing at other locations including but not limited to other city community centers.

Duties and Responsibilities

Digital Inclusion part-time instructors will assist and/lead in instructing various technology courses. All courses will follow a pre-determined curriculum. Previous teaching/instructing experience in a school or educational setting is preferred, but not required.
  • Lead with classroom instruction both virtually and in person. Plus provide support and guidance to students
  • Maintain a supportive, safe, and clean classroom environment
  • Work closely with the lead teacher to identify issues students are having and develop appropriate solutions as needed
  • Drive to multiple locations in a single day using personal vehicle
  • Able to carry and transport in your own vehicle up to 50 lbs. of computer equipment
  • City Driving Permit or the ability to obtain a clean NCDL required

Instructors should possess excellent verbal and written communications skills. Should be flexible, and capable of attending and passing all required trainings, a comprehensive background check, and controlled substance test. Must be dependable and able to drive themselves from location to location; typically, multiple locations in a single day. The ideal candidate should possess a positive, empathetic, and loving attitude that is patient and understanding.
