Summary
The Center for Drug Discovery (https://www.bcm.edu/research/centers/drug-discovery) is a strategic research center established at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. We are seeking highly-motivated, organized and enthusiastic Postdoctoral Fellows contributing to the research in the study of the mechanism of drug-induced liver injury. The center is well equipped with UHPLC-Q Exactive MS and Thermo Quintus (triple quadruple) instruments to conduct LC-MS-based untargeted and targeted metabolomics. Understanding the mechanism of the xenobiotic-induced liver injury could predict the possible adverse events of drugs in clinic and also could reduce the risk of the drug candidates in drug development. Baylor College of Medicine is located in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center and offers a highly interactive environment and a strong infrastructure for research and career development.
Job Duties
  • Plans, designs and conducts animal experiments.
  • Breeds and genotypes transgenic mice if the project requires and perform cytotoxicity assays.
  • Documents and interprets results of experiments and report to principal investigators.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Helps write and prepare manuscripts.
  • Oversees the maintenance of lab equipment and environment.
  • Supervises students.
Minimum Qualifications
  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Toxicology, Pharmacology, Molecular and Cell Biology, and/or Genetics and a background in the field of liver biology and/or diseases.
  • Experience in animal surgery and drug tissue distribution.
  • Experience with transgenic animal models and experience with human primary hepatocytes and isolation of mouse primary hepatocytes.
  • Skilled in administrating drugs in mouse via IV, IP or oral gavage.
  • Experience in LC-MS method development and sample preparation, and data analysis.
