The Lead Instructor provides core content instruction to students based upon the UMA standardized curriculum. In addition, the Lead Instructor supports online faculty and courses by fulfilling various curriculum, instruction, and training support functions. The Lead Instructor works in tandem with cross-department representatives to maximize academic achievement, retention, certification, graduation, and placement outcomes to ensure overall health and integrity of UMA programs.The Lead Instructor reports to the Program Director or General Education Chair.Key Responsibilities: Functional:Instructor Responsibilities:Teaches centralized curriculum in accordance with assigned schedule.Demonstrates proficiency with course content and materials.Facilitates discussion forum to ensure student engagement and interaction.Proactively monitors students performance and actively outreaches as needed. Provides academic feedback in a constructive, positive, and timely manner.Creates learning support tools to support students based on demonstrated needs.May provide instruction in synchronous group sessions based on student needs.Lead Responsibilities:Promotes an environment of creativity and innovation aligned with the department and instructional values and priorities.Actively participates in monitoring teaching effectiveness and student learning outcomes through the Education quality assurance processes.Leverages both qualitative and quantitative inputs to have insights into faculty performance. Proposes, contributes to, and implements department curriculum and instruction initiatives through the appropriate departmental and institutional governance structures.Proactively works with faculty and staff to resolve and escalate issues both synchronously and asynchronously.Provides instructional coaching and documents progress.Conducts individual and group mentoring to address quality monitoring trends.Attends relevant meetings to norm quality monitoring processes and practices.Assists faculty with prevention and intervention strategies for at-risk students.Partners effectively with the Faculty, Staff, and Curricular Affairs teams on quality curriculum and instructional practices aligned with the Education Framework.Performs other duties as requested to ensure effective curriculum and instruction.Technical:Instructor ResponsibilitiesIs regularly active in assigned course rooms and hosts weekly office hours.Grades course activities and posts weekly and final grades by the deadlines. Models netiquette and provides corrective feedback to students, as appropriate.Maintains an up-to-date faculty file in accordance with UMA policy, state regulations and accrediting commission requirements including required meetings, in-services, professional development, and continuing education credits and certifications. Follows Student and Team member Code of Conduct and Scholastic Honesty policies.Is responsive to program leadership, staff, and students via email, telephone, and/or virtual or other communication channels per established expectations and timelines. Lead Responsibilities Conducts reviews of assigned faculty using designated quality monitoring rubrics.Assists in developing tools and resources as well as in delivering faculty trainings.Participates in and provides input to Program Leaders for faculty evaluations.Compliance:Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures. Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.Work Experience, Skills & Abilities:Minimum Requirements:Healthcare Lead InstructorsUndergraduate degree with an equivalent of 15 semester credit hours in the subject field for Healthcare InstructorAcademic preparation in the specific courses taughtMinimum of three (3) years of occupational experienceAn industry certification/licensure if consistent with employment in the healthcare field of instruction (all certifications/licensures must remain active and be maintained as required by State and/or accrediting commissions)General Education Lead InstructorsMasters degree with a minimum of 18 credits hours in the assigned field of instruction for General Education InstructorAll Lead InstructorsIs in good standing according to specified quality monitoring metricsHas relevant knowledge of and experience with technological tools and softwareHas experience with curriculum enhancement, development and/or refinement processesHas demonstrated effective consultation/coaching skillsAble to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written EnglishProficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Skype and Microsoft Teams Able to support a diverse and inclusive work environment Preferred Requirements:Has UMA online Instructor experienceGraduation from a program in the healthcare field Experience with Learning Management SystemsExperience with Student Information SystemsExperience with synchronous instructional toolsHas knowledge of and experience with technological tools and softwareSuccess in applying adult learning principles and practices to online teachingInspires students to meet their career goals with career connections and strategiesWorking Environment:Ability to work full-remote, on-site, or a hybrid attendance modelFlexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
