A Scientist position is currently available in the laboratory of Dr. Paul Northcott in the Department of Developmental Neurobiology, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN. The Northcott lab is internationally recognized for making seminal contributions to the understanding of the genomics and developmental biology of childhood brain tumors. We seek accomplished, self-motivated, efficient, and meticulously organized scientists with a strong background in primary sample processing for cutting edge next-generation sequencing, including single-cell/nuclei and liquid biopsy analyses.
Candidates should be able to perform and coordinate a wide range of laboratory research procedures and conduct complex support tasks and projects determined by our current research. Duties will include molecular, cellular, and biochemical analyses using methods such as single-cell/nuclei sequencing, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN, and sample processing for translational genomic studies. Prior experience with primary tissue handling and FACS analysis are highly desirable. The position will involve interaction with other staff scientists, bioinformaticians, and trainees on large, multidisciplinary projects and presentation of scientific findings during regular working group meetings. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills
Experience with handling and processing of primary tissues for DNA, RNA, and protein extractions, single-cell/nuclei sequencing, ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, CUT&RUN, library preparation/QC analysis, and cell sorting by FACS is strongly preferred. Candidates with excellent communication and organizational skills are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Education
• Bachelors degree in relevant scientific area is required.
Minimum Experience
• Seven (7) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required
• Five (5) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Masters degree
• Three (3) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a PhD
