Job Description:

The Nicholson School of Communication and Media (NSCM) in the College of Sciences at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for multiple nine-month, non-tenure earning instructor or lecturer positions anticipated to begin August 2022.

The selected candidates will contribute to the Games and Interactive Media program's mission by teaching foundations, web, and/or games courses. Appropriate specializations may include areas such as game development, web design, social media, mobile and responsive design, virtual/augmented/mixed reality, and technical art. Faculty teaching responsibilities will support the Digital Media B.A. (with specializations in Web and Game Design).

NSCM is a student-centered school with a collegial and friendly faculty and staff. NSCM strives to be a premier academic program known for excellence in research, teaching and service to students and the community. Students are active in internships and organizations on and off-campus. Minimum Qualifications:

By the time of appointment, applicants must hold a master's degree (for an instructor) or a doctoral degree (for a lecturer) in an appropriate discipline from an accredited institution. In addition, the selected applicants will have experience teaching game and/or web mobile design, production, and development as an instructor of record at the collegiate level for a minimum of two academic years and demonstrate evidence of teaching skills in the teaching statement submitted with their application.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who are either (1) proficient in modern script languages for development on one or more platforms such as full-stack web, mobile or games, or (2) have experience and skills related to art development for real-time interactive media development relating to 2D, 3D art for games and interactive media. An emphasis on handling online and/or large classes is desired.
