Overview:
This is a limited term position for 1 year. This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.The Energy Metabolism Laboratory in the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging is a highly recognized laboratory studying obesity and aging in human populations in the US and worldwide. A range of different studies are implemented by laboratory personnel, including randomized clinical trials, cohort studies in population with remote data collection, methodological studies to improve the collection of dietary data, and studies of the possible anti-aging effects of calorie restriction. The laboratory has two scientists who work collaboratively, as well as students and research staff.

What You'll Do:
Supported by the Principal Investigator this individual will organize and implement a new randomized trial of dietary supplementation and weight loss in older adults. The goal of the project is to see if a new dietary supplement used alone or in combination with a behavioral weight loss intervention improves cognitive function in older adults who have overweight or obesity. The individual will manage all components of the randomized trial and will learn and implement specialized techniques to measure cognition and brain blood flow. The position will also support recruiting efforts, supervise student assistants, and work cooperatively with other staff members on the team including a behavioral interventionist and data manager. The individual will prepare reports for the Data Safety and Monitoring Board and NIH, assist in writing materials for recruitment and publication and presentation.

What We're Looking For:
Basic Requirements:Master's degree in a relevant science and up to 1 year laboratory experience or minimum 2 years managing a randomized clinical trial.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in science.Knowledge of and experience with clinical nutrition research.Special Work Schedule Requirements:May need to travel within Boston for recruiting.An employee in this position must complete all appropriate background checks at the time of hire, promotion, or transfer.Equal Opportunity Employer - minority/females/veterans/disability/sexual orientation/gender identity.
