What to Expect

  • Incumbent performs established assays, aids in validating novel biomarkers for immunoassays and generates clear technical reports.
  • Incumbent demonstrates proficiency in immunoassay instrumentation and processes by assisting in designing experiments to evaluate and validate single and multiplexed assays.
  • Incumbent is proficient in one or more of the following methodologies, Mesoscale, Radioimmunoassays, Luminex, or ELISAs.
  • Incumbent can provide protocol and assay technical consultation to clients.
  • Incumbent may train coworkers, where appropriate, and performs established laboratory procedures and assays in accordance with Labcorp quality principles.
  • Incumbent maintains high standards in all aspects of departmental and laboratory functions.
  • Incumbent has high initiative in service development and supports Labcorp marketing efforts.
  • Incumbent provides expert technical consultation to clients and suggests new assays and improvements to study design.
  • Incumbent maintains high standards in all aspects of departmental and laboratory functions.
  • Perform established and development of new immunoassays.
  • Consult with supervisor to establish goals
  • Research scientific literature and develop plan
  • Communicate experimental plan to supervisor and/or client and revise as needed
  • Obtain necessary reagents and equipment.
  • Design and conduct experiments in timely fashion and routinely update supervisor on progress
  • Modify plan as needed. Resolve routine and non-routine assay problems and select optimal conditions
  • Prepare clear, detailed experimental reports that enable reproduction of experiment by others in the lab and include precise tracking of samples and data
  • Complete testing within the expected turn-around time to meet customers' expectations
  • Conduct assay operations as needed for study support.
  • Train others and participate in method transfer activities as required.


Quality results
  • Include all appropriate biological controls in experimental design
  • Verify instrument performance and document quality checks
  • Report any quality issue to supervisor and participate in troubleshooting.


Scientific Communication
  • Generate concise and clear technical reports for clients and interpret basic findings
  • Prepare high quality scientific reports for internal and external oral presentation
  • Prepare scientific posters and manuscripts that demonstrate expertise and enhance the reputation of Labcorp in the scientific and client community.


Scientific Growth
  • Read appropriate literature and research topics applicable to Labcorp and client needs
  • Suggest and evaluate new assays and assay improvements
  • Evaluate new techniques, technologies, and instruments
  • Participate in internal and external scientific seminars and training
  • Teamwork and Scientific Leadership
  • Freely share ideas and learning with the team and other colleagues
  • Actively participate as team member for Labcorp and client studies.
  • Willingly cross-train and learn other assays to support overall team efforts


Compliance
  • Comply with regulatory guidelines, Universal Precautions and Labcorp Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.
  • Complete required training and maintain training records
  • Follow established Labcorp operations procedures for purchasing, payroll, client interaction, etc. at all times.


Minimum Required Skills
  • Expertise with immunoassay techniques and procedures.
  • Expertise with assay validation procedures and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in applicable instrumentation software, database, graphical and statistical software
  • Ability to interact with and support others in a team-oriented environment
  • Ability to conceive and interpret immunoassay development experiments
  • Ability to conceive and interpret enzymatic assay development experiments
  • Proficiency in applicable graphical and statistical software (Graph Pad Prism and/or SoftMax Pro)
  • Effective interpersonal skills to interact with and lead others in a team-oriented environment
  • Good understanding of a broad range of immunoassay based platforms (Meso Scale Discovery, Singulex, Luminex, Protein Simple Ella, and Octet)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Essential business skills such as planning and resource management

Education/Qualifications
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Biology or related field
  • Individual must have 5-7 years bench-level laboratory experience in immunoassay development
