FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Nursing Department at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) invites applications for an Assistant Professor position starting Fall 2022.

The Nursing Department is undergoing a process of growth and renewal and would like to attract new faculty that will share and contribute to this process through teaching, research and guidance in area(s) of Medical-Surgical/Fundamentals of Nursing . They will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions for the good of the institution.

Nursing faculty teach in the classroom and conduct clinical teaching. Research and publication are expected for tenure and promotion. Other areas of responsibility include curriculum development, participate in departmental and college-wide activities and committees, such as, grant writing, assessment, faculty development, mentoring student projects, and academic advisement. The qualified candidate must be able to work in either the Day or Evening/Weekend program, as needed by the Department.

QUALIFICATIONS

For Assistant Professor:

Master's degree in Nursing and five (5) years of appropriate teaching experience and/or professional experience and New York State RN License is required. Ph.D. degree in Nursing or in-progress of obtaining Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience is a plus. Main area of teaching will be Medical-Surgical/Fundamentals of Nursing .Strong preference will be given to candidates with didactic and online teaching experience in the main area of teaching. Evening/weekend schedule may be required. Experience with teaching and learning technologies preferred. Experience teaching non-traditional urban college students preferred.

City University of New York and BMCC expect faculty to have a real passion for teaching and engage in scholarship and research in their fields. Ideal candidates for the faculty positions would have an established research agenda and be able to take advantage of the bountiful academic resources and institutions available within the metropolitan New York area and research opportunities within the City University of New York. Significant research release time is available to junior faculty, and peer-refereed publications are a necessary component for tenure and promotion.

Candidates short-listed for interviews would conduct a brief teaching presentation on the area of specialty that the candidate is applying for to students in Associate Degree Program (I.e., Medical-Surgical/Fundamentals of content).

Vaccine mandate:

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

COMPENSATION

$51,242 - $88,602
