Site Name: USA - Pennsylvania - Upper Providence Posted Date: Apr 11 2022 The Investigator will be part of a drug discovery research team in Novel Human Genetics Research Unit at GSK R&D. This team focuses on the design and execution of preclinical studies to develop novel medicines for the treatment of chronic neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). In this role, the candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to preclinical campaigns by designing and performing in vitro and biochemical experiments to support molecule optimization and mechanism of action studies. The individual hired for this position will be a technical expert in custom in vitro and biochemical assay development and will have strong knowledge of RNA to protein structure-function relationships. This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career; these responsibilities include some of the following… Design and characterize custom cell lines and iPSC-derived cell models either independently or in collaboration with CROs and other team members Perform cellular experiments to gain understanding of protein structure-function relationships Develop custom qRT-PCR, ELISA and MSD assays to measure target/pathway engagement and to be implemented as preclinical biomarker assays Independently execute laboratory experiments, conduct statistically supported data analysis and deliver results in a timely manner to enable informed decision making Contribute to technical workplan discussions to support preclinical programs advancing from lead identification to lead optimization Clearly record and communicate study results at internal and external meetings Commit to continual improvement by reading and applying the latest scientific literature, methodologies and technologies Comply with all standards and practices of data integrity, ethics, and safety Model GSK's values of patient-focus, respect, transparency, and integrity Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: MSc and expert-level knowledge of cell biology, biochemistry and neuroscience. 3+ years pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience. An ability to independently design, execute and interpret high-quality experiments is essential. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: PhD Technical expertise in molecular construct design, custom cell line generation and validation, novel antibody validation, ELISA/MSD assay development, immunoprecipitation and quantitative RT-PCR is highly desired. Prior experience performing in vitro pharmacology experiments to evaluate small molecules, antibodies and oligonucleotides. Why GSK?
