The Synthetic Lethal Research Unit within Oncology based in Upper Providence, PA is seeking an accomplished, highly ambitious scientist to make important contributions to drug discovery and biomarker development. The successful candidate will work together with a highly motivated team to discover and develop novel oncology drugs with a clear genetic relationship to cancer. More specific activities include target validation using genetic and tool molecules to define the mechanism of action of targets and compounds using biochemical, cellular, and in vivo models. This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following: 1) Be a key biology contributor to drug discovery programs 2) Identify and evaluate new drug targets 3) Discover and develop pharmacodynamic and predictive biomarkers to support translation to the clinic. 4) The scientist will work directly with external scientists as part of research collaborations, direct contract research studies, and contribute to strategic planning for the Synthetic Lethal Research Unit. 5) The candidate's industry-leading research will address important drug discovery questions, directly impact GSK Oncology's pipeline, and lead to publication in top scientific journals. Why You? Basic Qualifications: Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology or a related field with 3 or more years postdoctoral experience or M.S. with 6+ years industry experience. Preferred Qualifications: Experience/knowledge of tumor cell biology or cell signaling, cancer genetics, and synthetic lethal targets. Hands-on experience with genetic engineering, screen or assay development. Knowledge of how to leverage cancer genomics data and analysis methods for discovery efforts. Attention to detail, proficient reasoning skills in experimental design and execution, data analysis, statistical methods and interpretation. Adept at managing multiple priorities in an efficient and organized manner. Cancer drug discovery experience. Why GSK?
