• Responsible and accountable for developing and implementing an industry-leading Asset Project Management team and ensuring the performance of Asset Project Managers (Asset PMs) in delivering the portfolio.

• Manage a portion of a category portfolio, and the scope of the portfolio may include pre-POC through product maintenance.

• Supervise Asset PMs to ensure alignment and collaboration across all functional lines within GPD and other enabling functions including Finance, Medical, Clinical, Regulatory, Pharmaceutical Science, Commercial, Pfizer Global Supply, and Patient & Health Impact.

• Drive development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of project management methodologies within PPM and the broader GPD organization, where appropriate, leveraging the best practices identified across the organization and beyond.

• Ensure Project Management colleagues have the appropriate project management and leadership skills and competencies to successfully drive delivery for development, medical and commercial projects and programs.

• Align and motivate staff to contribute to the overall GPD and PPM vision.

• Assign required project management resources to ensure delivery of assigned portfolio.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervision:

• Deliver quality supervision, performance management, and personal development for Asset PMs.

• Coach and mentor Asset PMs by testing, stretching and educating where appropriate and consistent with Individual Development Plan

• Provide single point of responsibility for partner lines and stakeholders for assigned portfolio.

• Recruit, retain and develop appropriate, qualified Asset Project Management staff.

Talent Development and Performance:

• Align and motivate staff behind the GPD Vision

• Be accountable for the performance of Asset PMs

• Ensure Asset PMs have the skills and capabilities to partner effectively with key team members to lead and/or manage the delivery of assets

• Develop and implement an integrated vision of Project Management that enables Asset PMs to drive decision making that maximizes patient access and business value, culminating in high quality strategic and operational delivery within budget constraints

• Develop a succession plan for the next generation of leaders for the Asset Project Management Team Lead positions

Compliance:

• Ensure compliance by all Project Management colleagues with Pfizer policies and standards and local laws and regulations

• Establish and clearly communicate the standards for quality of project management deliverables & evaluate compliance on a regular basis

Resource Allocation:

• Drive Project Execution and Resource Allocation

• In partnership with the PM Group Lead, forecast and ensure appropriate allocation of PM resources/skills to effectively support the delivery of the portfolio

Operational Delivery:

• Provide coaching and guidance to Asset PMs to effectively lead and optimize asset delivery including:

Ensure alignment between Medicine Plans, Operating Plans, Integrated Development and Commercialization Plans, category budgets and governance processes.

Ensure Medicine and Commercialization Plans are aligned with portfolio Investment and optimization priorities and goals, and portfolio value is optimized.

Manage information and communications

Ensure compliance with provision of portfolio and project information required to meet GPD reporting needs.

Effectively build, manage and implement comprehensive risk management plans and methodologies.

Support Portfolio Management and Planning with appropriate data/reports, ensuring data quality and validity; provide contextual interpretation of information to facilitate appropriate interpretation.

Develop and implement project management metrics to ensure focus on continuous improvement of project management methodology to optimize business value.

Devise project management practices that are industry-leading and, if appropriate, applicable across the broader organization.

As appropriate, may be accountable for project management of Pfizer Medicine Teams to ensure alignment and execution of commercial strategic and operational objectives. Includes serving as the program operational leader, ensuring all cross functional deliverables are achieved on or ahead of schedule, within budget target, and with quality that meets or exceeds business needs.

Partner with GPD, Pharmaceutical Science, Commercial, and Partner Line leadership members to ensure project/ program delivery

Partner Line and Stakeholder Management:

• Partner with PM Group Lead and category governance to consistently enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of project/asset progression

• Establish and maintain effective interfaces among Partner Lines, GPD operational stakeholders, and PPM.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

Minimum training & education requirement: Bachelor's degree, Advanced Degree is desirable, in one of the disciplines relating to drug development or business.
Prior experience preferred:
• Deep expertise in project management, portfolio management, drug development, and/or pharmaceutical discipline
• Broad knowledge of project management methodologies, principles, best practices, supporting systems, and tools
• At least 10 years of experience in managing multiple, highly complex projects, and portfolio governance
• Strong technical experience in a discipline associated with drug development
• Knowledge of commercial issues that drive development and product maintenance
• Demonstrated success in negotiating in an environment of a highly matrix-based organization
• Experience as Line manager/supervisor
• Strong track record meeting personal and team goals
• Proven record of implementing project and portfolio management practices and process improvements
• Successful track record and experience in budgetary management and fiscal awareness
