Primary Duties:

The successful candidate will execute established protocols for Research grade AAV vector characterization and release assays. the candidate will also assist therapeutic area scientists in cloning and synthesis of new DNA constructs for pre-clinical grade rAAV vector production.

The individual will participate in (but not be limited to):
  • rAAV vector characterization and QC release assays
  • execute plasmid preparation and release to support RVC vector production and translational research needs
  • Interact with therapeutic area scientists to coordinate plasmid preparation and QC
  • Assist in the development and optimization of analytical assays
  • Maintain relevant laboratory supplies and equipment as needed
  • Additionally, the individual will contribute to the implementation of electronic documentation and plasmid inventory management to adequately support research grade rAAV vector manufacturing
This position requires:
  • Knowledge and hands on experience in qPCR, ddPCR and DNA production/characterization
  • Experience with viral vector characterization and quality control assays
  • Experience with DNA sequencing and characterization both in house and outsourced and DNA related software
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment are required

  • Perform quality control assays described above in the job primary duties
  • Medium to large scale plasmid production and plasmid release
  • Perform routine calculations and maintain appropriate records
  • Prepare laboratory reagents/raw materials for release assays and DNA preparation
  • Maintain lab equipment and records
  • Maintain laboratory safety procedures and compliance records
  • Accountable to the research vector core leader
  • Maintain effective communication with therapeutic area scientists on vector release and plasmid production

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • B.S/M.S in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Generally, has > 3 years of relevant working experience
  • Experience with qPCR, ddPCR or relevant analytical assay is a plus
  • Proven ability to work independently and effectively plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion to meet schedules and deadlines
  • Strict attention to details. Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills are required
  • Excellent personal communication skills
