Job Summary:

The Content Acquisition Team of Wiley is offering a Commissioning Editor position based in Beijing or Shanghai to drive and ensure special content (special issue, review articles, technique papers, etc.) growth for Wiley's Physical and Social Sciences program globally. The Commissioning Editor will lead Wiley global Physical and Social Sciences special content program and be responsible for developing and managing a healthy pipeline of special content ideas and ongoing projects, and meeting agreed special content targets by working closely with Editorial, Content Management, Marketing, external editors, and top resarchers in Physical and Social Sciences. He/she will also play an important role in increasing overall Physical and Social Sciences program visibility in China through online and offline channels. This role is fundamental to ensure and drive content growth within the respective portfolios.

How will you make an impact:

  • Drive and oversee the strategic direction of special content program in global Physical and Social Sciences portfolio to reach agreed targets.
  • Commission and oversee special content through various channels and ways.
  • Work closely with the research community globally to ensure special content that best fit the global portfolios in Physical and Social Sciences; establish a close collaboration with Wiley internal stakeholders to keep them informed of special content initiatives and seek inputs as needed.
  • Proactively reach out to relevant stakeholders to start new special content projects.
  • Gather intel and provide data analysis required to solicit special content ideas.
  • Increase Physical and Social Sciences program visibility in China through online and offline Channels.
  • Build and maintain strong connections with existing journal editorial connections and top researchers from key organizations.
  • Represent the journal portfolio at events/conferences/webinars.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of all interventions through regular recording in systems and tracking of meaningful KPIs.
  • Report to line manager on results and challenges, actively proposing solutions.

We are looking for people who:

  • Master's degree in Physical Sciences, Social Sciences or relevant subjects, PhD is preferred.
  • Has relevant work experience, preferably in STM publishing.
  • Ability to initiate and track multiple projects at the same time.
  • A good team player within cross-functional global and local teams, be logical, independent, proactive and results driven.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English within a global environment.
  • Experiences in working with the research community with extensive networks preferred.
  • Detail and quality oriented, strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Willingness to travel.
