FACULTY STUDENT ADVISOR (ONE POST) (PERMANENT APPOINTMENT)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The incumbent will be required to provide support to students, especially those at risk of not succeeding within the Faculty, in order for such students to be successful.

MINIMUM REQUIRENENTS:
  • Honours degree in Educational Psychology or a honours degree in Counselling Psychology or Social Work
  • Minimum experience of three years as a student mentor or advisor at a tertiary institution and understanding of curricular issues


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
  • Computer literate and competent working with Excel;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Empathic and helpful nature;
  • Facilitation skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Registration or membership with a professional body.


ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
  • A master's degree in Educational Psychology or Counselling Psychology.
  • Two years of experience in Career counselling.


PLEASE NOTE: All shortlisted candidates may be required to participate in relevant skills Assessments as part of the selection process.

The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED an UMVOZO medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
