Position Summary:

Teach a wide range of horticulture courses to a diverse group of students utilizing a range of teaching modalities (face-to-face, live virtual lecture, hybrid) including teaching in the outdoor Garden Classroom.

Primary Duties Performed:

Formal course contact teaching of 15 credit hours of horticulture courses (courses include but are not limited to Plant Science, Soils, Plant Identification, Greenhouse Management, Plant Propagation, Turf Management, Cannabis/Hemp Production) face to face varying among day and evening. Faculty are also required to hold a minimum of 10 office hours per week for meeting with students.
Preparation and planning for instructing assigned classes in accordance with course objectives.
Preparing and correcting examinations and other student work assignments.
Participation in departmental development, evaluation and revision of course objectives and outlines, instructional strategies, and systems of evaluation of student learning.
Participation on other departmental, divisional, campus and college-wide committees.
Attendance at faculty meetings, institutional ceremonies, meetings, or events, and advisory committee meetings.
Participation in community activities.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in horticulture, botany, ecology, or other related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in horticulture, botany, ecology, or other related field.
three years of relevant teaching experience at the college level.
