The ELSM Department offers a statewide program featuring administrator certification and degree programs at the master's and doctoral levels through four WSU campuses: Pullman, Spokane, Tri-Cities, and Vancouver. The doctoral program in educational leadership was the first statewide doctorate offered at WSU and is a cohort-based program designed to meet the needs of school administrators across the state of Washington. In addition to degree programs, WSU offers field-based superintendent and principal certification programs. WSU is classified as a doctoral university-highest research activity by the Carnegie Foundation and is a founding member of the University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA). The Spokane campus, where this position is based, is an entrepreneurial urban campus focused on health science education. *The Position:*
This ELSM position is located at the WSU Spokane campus in Spokane, Washington. The position will include academic director responsibilities for College of Education programs on the Spokane Campus. These include:

* primary responsibility to provide leadership for the Spokane education unit, including resource allocation and management, fiscal/budgetary issues, space and facilities, personnel, and delivery of instructional programs

* engagement with community and organizational entities to create strategic partnerships within the unit and across the region

* support of scholarly and creative activity and faculty development

* communication with campus and college leadership

The Educational Leadership Program seeks candidates with the potential to make a significant contribution to scholarship teaching and service in the field of educational leadership. Candidates must be able to contribute to graduate programs in education by teaching appropriate courses, conducting relevant research, assuming service responsibilities, advising students, and chairing doctoral students' committees. Candidates should have scholarship and teaching and professional experience in two or more of the following areas:

* culture, diversity and social justice

* leadership and organizational theory

* instructional leadership

* policy and politics

* community and communications

* law and/or finance

Responsibilities include maintaining an active research and scholarly agenda; advising certification and, master's and doctoral students; providing service to the university and to the profession at the local, state, and national levels; and engaging in collaborative work with Educational Leadership faculty on the Pullman, Tri-Cities, and Vancouver WSU campuses. Candidates must be willing to teach with distance learning technologies and at off-campus sites.
*Required Qualifications: *

* Earned doctorate in educational leadership or closely related field by the time of hire

* Evidence of leadership experience at in school and district /departmental, college or university level leadership positions

* Evidence of contribution to scholarship in the field of educational leadership commensurate with rank

* Evidence of the ability to contribute to advancing diversity consistent with the WSU strategic plan (see [https://strategicplan.wsu.edu](https://strategicplan.wsu.edu))

* Evidence of ability to mentor graduate students

* Evidence of ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and K-12 educators

* Expertise to teach core educational leadership coursework in principal and superintendent certification programs

*Preferred Qualifications*:

* Demonstrated expertise in educational leadership related to diversity issues, culturally competent leadership and/or leadership for social justice
