Job description
As a member of our core software and informatics team, you'll help ensure that we put accurate scientific pipelines in customers' hands as part of a highly diverse team of bioinformaticians, software developers, and statisticians. Some mission critical team goals you'd be responsible for would include:

Job description
As a member of our core software and informatics team, you'll help ensure that we put accurate scientific pipelines in customers' hands as part of a highly diverse team of bioinformaticians, software developers, and statisticians. Some mission critical team goals you'd be responsible for would include:
- Creating a test discipline in the dry lab (software) organization.
- Working with DevOps and Software Engineers to define test requirements.
- Developing test plans to ensure our scientific pipelines consistently produce accurate results where DNA sequence files are processed and produce signal (numerical) results.
- Identifying test frameworks and tools required for testing.
- Developing test tools as needed.
- Developing automated tests based on tests cases in the test plans.
- Integrating automated tests into a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipeline.
The primary scope of testing will focus on ensuring the scientific pipelines consistently produce accurate results.
Additional scope includes:
- Developing performance tests to help assess workload capacity of the scientific pipelines.
- End to end testing - from web interface to scientific pipeline results reporting.
Required experience
We are a small team, all wearing many hats. Working with internal teams and customers will be essential. Implementing effective automated testing in our software development and deployment workflows will also be critical. Additional experience requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to develop software tests (Automated, Manual, Exploratory etc...).
- Demonstrated ability to create test plans and test cases.
- Demonstrated ability to test at different interfaces in a distributed software system deployed in an AWS environment:
- Web browser.
- Internal AWS service endpoints (e.g., SQS queues).
- CLI applications on Docker containers.
- S3 objects.
Preferred experience
- Experience with Jenkins Pipelines.
- Substantial expertise in a programming language such as C and Python; solid Linux foundation.
- Previous public cloud experience with Amazon, Google, or Azure
- Experience with bioinformatics or next-generation sequencing is a plus, but not required.
- Experience handling and processing large volumes of data
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
- Previous industry experience
