Our mission is to unlock human potential. We welcome you for who you are, the background you bring, and we embrace individuals who get excited about learning. Bring your experiences, your perspectives, and your passion; it's in our differences that we empower the way the world learns.

The Manager of Article & Journal Publicity works within the Product Portfolio Marketing team to provide essential publicity services for the Research business and its partners. As a key member of the larger Research Marketing team, this person interacts with internal colleagues, external partners and news media to execute timely communications to external audiences.

This role interacts and aligns with internal colleagues in Research and Global Enterprise Marketing; Editorial and Content Management; and other colleagues across the organization to achieve impactful publicity outcomes. This person also regularly communicates with external communities and partners that include journalists, society publishing partners, researchers, and fellow communications professionals. This person will manage the day-to-day publicity activities and reporting of results.

How you will make an impact:
  • Manage Wiley's Research Publicity Headlines-a regular communication of embargoed and published research content shared with news media to raise the profile of authors and their research publishing in 1,600 proprietary and society-owned journals.
  • Execute publicity campaigns for priority societies, subjects, journals and research content that advance the objectives set out in society marketing plans and align with larger goals of the Research business and Wiley.
  • Monitor newsroom mailbox and respond to media inquiries asking for embargoed and published research content.
  • Help build a best-in-class research public relations function by identifying and implementing best practices and process improvements related to publicity tactics.
  • Work with Research Marketing leaders and teammates to develop key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure and communicate impact of public relations activities, underscoring the value of the Research Marketing function to external partners and internal Wiley stakeholders.

We are looking for people who have the following:
  • Bachelor's Degree, ideally in a content area such as health, life or physical sciences; social science and humanities; functional areas like English, communications or journalism.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in marketing, public relations or communications.
  • Experience of working independently to execute communications plans from beginning to end with minimal advisement.
  • Experience of measuring success of public relation tactics and adapting plans to improve results.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with quick turnarounds.
  • Self-starter with a demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects, prioritize a variety of tasks, and think on your feet to meet ever-changing needs and deadlines.
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Meltwater, newswire services, and other PR management tools is a plus.
