FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Queens College, CUNY seeks to fill a tenure-track position in archaeology at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2023. A PhD in Anthropology or Archaeology at the time of appointment and demonstrated excellence in research and undergraduate teaching are required. The Department is interested in candidates who conduct research in Africa and/or the African Diaspora, and we prefer candidates who will enhance the department's quantitative (STEM) curriculum. The successful candidate will have an active field program, innovative methodological approaches, interests complementing those of our current faculty, and a field or laboratory research program in archaeology that could involve Queens College undergraduate students. Teaching priorities include 1) Introduction to Archaeology; 2) Peoples of Africa; 3) Archaeology of Africa; and 4) Research Design and Method, as well as other courses in the candidate's area of specialization. The Department (http://qcpages.qc.cuny.edu/ANTHRO) emphasizes a four-field approach to anthropology and is associated with the CUNY PhD Program in Anthropology (gc.cuny.edu/anthropology). CUNY Vaccinatine Mandate Policy

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in Anthropology or Archaeology at the time of appointment, ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. Preferred qualifications include: · an active field research program in the archaeology of Sub-Saharan Africa and/or the African Diaspora · a field or laboratory research program that could involve Queens College undergraduate students · a research record demonstrating effective application of innovative quantitative approaches to data collection and/or analysis
