Position Summary

Supports antibody and biologics lead discovery and optimization efforts across the Biologics portfolio through protein characterization by analytical and biophysical methods. This role actively contributes to creating a collaborative, productive and scientifically rigorous working environment and works closely with teams across the Biologics group and its academic collaborators.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs therapeutic antibody characterization using various UPLC and HPLC techniques, such as ion exchange (IEX), size exclusion (SEC), hydrophobic interaction (HIC), reverse phase (RP).
  • Analyzes size and charge variants by capillary electrophoresis sodium dodecyl sulfate (CE-SDS) and capillary isoelectric focusing (CIEF).
  • Performs light scattering analysis by SEC-MALS and DLS.
  • Responsible for intact mass analysis and peptide mapping by mass spectrometry.
  • Performs protein concentration determination (UV).
  • Writes and reviews formal reports, including method protocols and other technical documents.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree

Experience

BS/MS in Chemistry or Biochemistry.

2-5 years laboratory experience in analytical chemistry, protein chemistry, or

biochemistry in an academic laboratory, or in the pharmaceutical or

biotechnology industry.

A highly motivated scientist with an understanding of the fundamentals of protein chromatography and hands-on experience with analytical tools and sample preparation.

Proven track record and understanding of general chromatography and spectroscopy principles.

Experience in electrophoresis and capillary electrophoresis.

Experience with protein purification is preferred.

Proficiency with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and Western Blot.

  • Motivation to learn and grow in scientific expertise.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot technical issues.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
