Job Summary: The Registered Nurse Research Scientist shall be a dual role with 80% time allocated to research endeavors, and 20% time dedicated to the College of Nursing in an Assistant Clinical faculty role. The Registered Nurse Research Scientist, will engage nursing in research by promoting, supporting and facilitating nursing participation in research activities to advance clinical practice. This individual will support nursing by using evidence-based practices to conduct clinical research, translation of research into practice and the dissemination of research results. Use results to contract a strategic plan, to develop clinical research for nursing and other disciplines, aligned with the strategic mission and goals of Upstate University Hospital. The Registered Nurse Research Scientist will provide leadership for research and evidence-based practice education to clinical staff, including both formal classes and information sessions. In the faculty role, this position shall teach core, specialty classes, advise students, participate in scholarly activities, and fulfill faculty responsibilities as delineated in the College of Nursing Faculty Handbook. Minimum Qualifications:
NYS Licensed/Registered Nurse (or eligible) required. PhD, DNP, DNS, or EdD required. Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required. A minimum of five years nursing experience in an acute care setting and two years of progressive supervisory or leadership experience required. CPR-BLS required by time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with IRB procedure is desired. Experience in conducting nursing research and scholarly publication is strongly desired. National certification in related field and faculty experience preferred.
